Peter Goodwin and Dianne Mulhern are owner/operators of busy Hamilton-based heavy transport and machinery services operation, Diesel and Machinery Services (DAMS).

Their simple and highly effective approach to business is having a can-do attitude, getting it right first time, and valuing the customer.

Orion Is Integral
Orion was installed in 2002 - only a few months after its market launch - and the business has steadily grown throughout the many years DAMS and Orion have been in partnership. Peter says the control and visibility Orion has provided has been integral to this success.

"I don't know how anyone could run a business like ours without Orion", he says. "It's a true industry specialist system that properly manages parts and labour, not just an accounting system".

Peter says that during the global recession Orion allowed him to react quickly with the changing market allowing DAMS to emerge early and in good shape as the economy recovered.

"Orion allows us to closely track margins on all workshop jobs and allows us to ensure that our workshops stay profitable."

DAMS are pretty keen adopters of technology too. Since the original installation, they have added the Orion Fleet module, sales module and the NZTA motor vehicle register lookup tool just to name a few. Since 2002 they have also grown their business so much they have added 9 uses licences to the original Orion system.
